James Arizumi, Relax&Rolex

Artist James Arizumi presents a multi-faceted body of work that revolves around the advice that "you should never take life too seriously". Using fine art media, high design, and humor as its vehicles, Relax & Rolex dispatches ideas surrounding social economic status, authoritarian angst, symbolism, freedom, beauty and the dawn of the digitally distracted. Arizumi challenges the viewer to relax and see the lightness, humor and irony in the complexities of our daily routines.

James Arizumi (b. 1975, Honolulu, HI) has been in design for over 20yrs. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Architecture and a Masters Degree in Industrial Design. Previously he was the Global Design Director at Nike SB where he was for almost a decade helping build it into the highly influential brand that it is today. Known for his influence on many of the Nike SB shoe models, he is most recognized for his work on the Stefan Janoski, which is still one of the best selling skate shoes to this day. He currently resides in Portland Oregon with is beautiful wife and soon to be born daughter. He enjoys living life to the fullest.
