Kyle Thompson, Ghost Town
February 6 - 28, 2015
Since it’s inception One Grand Gallery has exhibited a wide variety of contemporary art and design. This February we are elated to present our first ever exhibition dedicated entirely to the art of photography with Kyle Thompson's Ghost Town.
Kyle Thompson is a 23-year-old from Chicago, who has since made the Northwest his home. Having only gotten into photography at the age of nineteen, he has wasted no time in producing an exceptional portfolio. Thompson has managed to amass both a considerable internet following and critical acclaim, while working mainly in the digital and online form.
Thompson’s style of haunting self-portraiture is affected by his independent disposition and an eye for the desolate landscapes that define the archetypal American backdrop.Ghost Town will continue this trend, all while challenging the organic nature of the medium. Thompson’s manipulation of dynamic, otherworldly scenery strikes an eerie tone. That, combined with a keen eye for composition results in a series of surreal narratives that begin and end within themselves. The viewer is struck immediately by the closeness of the worlds Thompson creates, as well as by their isolation.
One Grand Gallery invites you to to find a piece of your departed self in the ghost towns of Kyle Thompson’s wandering eye.
