December 7, 2012 - January 25, 2013

Best known for his graphic work with Black Flag and SST Records, Pettibon has become a renowned name in the contemporary art world. Culling over 200 designs created during his formative years in the Los Angeles underground punk scene, the exhibit strives to showcase Pettibon’s early work and provide a context for the seminal artist’s influential and iconic illustrative style.

Raymond Pettibon: The Punk Years, 1978-86 is the first in ICI’s Exhibitions in a Box series. Circulated by Independent Curators International (ICI), New York, this exhibition has been curated by David Platzker. The exhibition is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation; the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts; the ICI Board of Trustees, and ICI Benefactors Barbara and John Robinson.
